Air Jordan III Retro - True Blue 2011

Before I begin, I would like to take a moment to remember the thousands of people who lost their lives, people who lost loved ones, and the millions affected by the events of September 11th 2001. My best wishes and prayers go out to those affected by the attacks 12 years ago and may the souls of the perished
Rest In Peace.

As you can see, this Air Jordan model literally only features one of the same design aspects (split leather upper) as the Jordan II which you saw in an earlier post! This is such a unique shoe in the way that it shaped the way a lot of the Js to come would look. There are 3 main design points, introduced by Tinker Hatfield, that make this sneaker stand out. The synthetic elephant print engraved into the leather wraps the tip toes and the bottom of the heel area, as well as the sides of the lace holes. The second feature is the 'midsole topline' which separates the upper leather from the rubber sole. It helps creates a good contrast against the pure white leather, and complements the lace tabs positioned on the elephant print, and the inner shoe lining. The final, and probably most important feature, is the iconic Jumpman logo on the tongue, and in the later retros it also features on the heel tab.

I have to be honest in saying that the True Blue is not my favourite colourway in this model, I much prefer the more recently released Retro 88 which features the OG Nike Air logo on the back of the shoe as you can see below. The White/Fire Red/Cement/Grey-Black colourway is just incredible, and to bring back the old school look was definitely a good move that went down very well with Jordan enthusiasts! The Air Jordan III is definitely one of the greatest sneakers of all time, but which version of it do you prefer?
